The Congregation of the Franciscan Missionary Brothers has Pioneering Missionary
Work as its Charism; keeping up the basic characteristics of the community the
congregation in a span of 104 years has handed over 78 well-developed Mission
Stations to respective dioceses.
We have over 72 centres in India alone spread out to four Provinces and a region and a
Province each in Sri Lanka an South America (Paraguay and Bolivia). In order to reach
out to people in need, our congregation undertakes various humanitarian activities such
as boys homes, Village Schools, Technical schools both formal and not formal, Dispensaries,
Rehabilitation centres, model agricultural farm etc. Among all the activities conducted by
the brothers, importance is given to people of remote areas of the country where Governmental
agencies don`t reach and serve them in their need.
Our congregation has the experience of conducting technical training institutes in India
for over 40 (forty) years, both in the formal and non-formal streams. We have many more
humanitarian an developmental activities for the upliftment of the downthrodden and the
less privileged, the details of the same are given in this website.
"Make me an instrument of your peace" (St. Francis, our patron)
St. Francis, our patron
Francis was born in 1182 in Assisi in Italy. He was the son of a rich merchant,
but as a youth he was unsatisfied with life. One day he heard the Lord`s call
to follow Him. He renounced all wealth and fame an devoted his life to the preaching
of Christ`s message and to a life of prayer and charity. In 1224, he received the
wounds of Christ, the stigmata. Francis died on October 3, 1226. He was canonized in 1230.
Following the spirit and charism of St. Francis, there arose in the church many religious and
lay associations. They are a part of the Franciscan Family. St. Francis is the Patron
of the Environment.
